Yugen Sheep have more fun or do they? It so happened that my dear friend, poet and photographer Alexis de Roode went for a little stroll in nature. Obviously to experience some y?gen or any other aesthetical feel inducing inspiration. He must have catched a swell drift for the photo he shot was true of aim and a wandering beauty. It was love at first sight and I saw the potential for a great drawing. Frankly, I felt as if I did not had to add much value. All the sheep were present at the very spot they ought to be. Upon my word, surely a poet recognizes the momentum and grab it by its fur. Meanwhile sheep feast on leafs or should I say: wolf a meal down, not knowing what lingers above their head? Mixed Bag I kept forms cubistic and realized it was quite some time ago I combined cubism with surrealism. The last one was my graphite pencil drawing Monkey See, Monkey Do – 05-09-20. That one being rather hilarious, this one turned out rather mysterious. I think it has something to do with a little bit of yugen I experience myself of late. Through my extensive hikes during the lockdown I came to think of new ways for my art to turn to. Perhaps I should tell more tales with my art works and pause the formalistic approach for a while. After all, I made plenty work in my roundism style and I feel squished like a grape artistically. Which higher powers may know where beauty wanders off to next, only to be chased after by me? Should I become a wolf in sheep’s clothing or just keep on chewing on familiar artistic leafs? Graphite pencil drawing (Sakura 0.5 mm, Pentel 4B) on Talens Bristol paper (21 x 29.7 x 0.1 cm) - A4 format) Artist: Corné Akkers
