Here’s another cool way to get exposed to art besides visiting a gallery, art fair, museum, or your favorite on-line art marketplace (wink wink). Attend an artist-in-residence exhibit or open studio event featuring work by resident artists.
If you are an artist, you’ve heard of residency programs. If not, these are opportunities around the nation and the globe where artists can apply to receive free temporary living and studio space during which time artists have time to develop new projects, continue unfinished work, or complete research for an upcoming series, all for art’s sake. Sounds good, huh?
Recently, I came across The Philadelphia Art Hotel – an urban artist residency in West Philadelphia. Not only is the interior filled with fun colors and happy art,
it scores lots of points for supporting the arts. Their color palette reminds me of a couple zatista.com artists.
Look for an artist residency program in your area. Participate in their events, and enhance your commitment to support the arts in your community.
