Terry Hastings

I am Terry Hastings, a Palm Springs California based photographer. I specialize in photos of the male form. Living in the desert we have many swimming pools and gorgeous light as well as many beautiful models. My favorite thing to do is to make them get naked and have them swim. The water reacts in incredible ways slicing and dicing and repeating the body once time is frozen. I also enjoy putting fabric in the pool as splashes of color. When you mix all these elements together you get an impressionistic painting without all the hassle of painting or even photoshop. I might alter the brightness or contrast of the photo, but the photo you see is what I shot in the camera. No other filters or alterations.
This "Water" series is just a small part of my Four Elements series. But it is the one that brings the most joy and magic to the viewer.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Theatre. I got tired of weeks of rehearsals and learning lines and sets and lights and then, just like that its over and gone. My photography is all of that work shot in an hour and recorded for eternity.

My Water series is all David Hockney. I even have a series of photo collages inspired by Hockney, but then get deeper into the Cubists of Picasso, Braque and most importantly Juan Gris. But we will start with the pool work first and then continue into my repertoire at a later date..
