Artist Statement:
Steve passed away unexpectedly in August, 2019 leaving his impressions of the world and the people in it beautifully but poignantly documented through his body of work. He is represented by Heidi Fuerst. The following statement was written shortly before his death.
"My paintings convey my gut reaction to places and people. The landscape paintings are fresh and immediate snapshots of my surroundings -- as if taken from a moving car, sometimes clear, sometimes blurry due to the speed with which they pass. In the portraits I attempt to capture the essence of the imprint left on me by another. Taken together, they are reflections on the fleeting nature of places and people in my life".
