Artist Statement:
Stephanie develops her highly recognizable Lowry style paintings of tiny human figures over the years. She channels her fascination with movements and connectivity of people in her latest series, featuring popular sporting events such as golf, tennis, skiing and marathons.
Each figure, rendering in artistic and figurative strokes, captures the fluidity of life in different settings, evoking a sense of freedom and the vibrant pulse of city life. Their colourful silhouettes against the stark white canvas convey both individuality and community.
Stephanie wants viewers to focus on the details of people. The minimalist background gives viewers space for imagination, applying the contents to their own experiences. Each figure is delicately painted using tiny paint brushes. The composition continues around the edges, adding a three-dimensional element to the artwork.
