Artist Statement:
My name is Debbie Daniels and I am a photorealistic oil painter of up close seascape details, including waves, rocks, and boats. I have a love of the outdoors where I find continual inspiration for my paintings. I enjoy kayaking, paddle boarding, horseback riding, and riding my motorcycle. I live and paint in Friday Harbor, Washington. I am fascinated by the distinct shapes and elegance of light and color reflected on the water. I never cease to be inspired by the ocean in all its forms and the beauty surrounding it. My paintings are often about freezing the movement of water in order to preserve the delicacy of a fleeting moment in time.
Education:
I am a self taught artist who studied at Columbus College of Art and Design for one year.
Awards & Distinctions:
My artwork has been included in national and international juried shows in Seattle, New York, and Albuquerque, NM, and has been featured in Northlight Books, Best of Drawing, “Strokes of Genius” (2011), and Southwest Art Magazine (December, 2017). I recently won the People’s Choice 1st place award at the San Juan Island Museum of Art’s Artist’s Registry show (February, 2020).
My work is included in numerous public and private art collections through out the U.S, including Swedish Hospital, Leo Lambiel Museum, and Mera Luxury Condos.
Some of my work is currently on display in Amazon’s storefront windows in Seattle (sponsored by Shunpike).
