Artist Statement:
I was born in the Isle of Wight U.K. in 1940 and now live in El Escorial, Spain, having spent many years in the Canary Islands.
Over the years my artwork has also changed and matured, moving from figurative to wards abstract colour fields mostely refering to landscape.
On observing the light and shade in the woods, I started to arrange forms derived by the horizontals and verticals in order to obtain rectangles of colour and matter, keeping the sentation of perspective and deepness. From this moment I abandoned the concept of figure and background, and ignoring the perspective, situating all the forms on the same plane. Then ignored the variation of colours and matter until only the white canvas remained.....
My motivation is curiosity and a will to do better every day. My ambition to give peace and pleasure to others.
