Artist Statement:
From a young age, art has been a natural way of expressing himself, a language of his own. Starting as a self-taught painter, he went on to study with Uruguayan masters such as Osvaldo Leite, Miguel A. Pareja among others. The works of J.M. William Turner have been a huge inspiration for his art as well.
For more than 35 years, Vivo has dedicated himself exclusively to explore art’s many sides, specially focusing on painting seascapes and human figures.
Vivo’s work is based on a semi-abstract style, with emphasis on bold strokes and colours with oil and palette knives. It varies from the figurative to the suggested, which allows the viewers to interpret the work following their feelings and sensitivity.
He was Director of the Painters and Sculptors Association of Uruguay, founding member of Carrasco Soho movement and has been heading his own atelier in Montevideo, Uruguay for many years where he exhibits his work and offers painting workshops.
