On The Road

On the cusp of graduation with nothing but freelancing lined up for after, I’ve been thinking a lot about where I will soon be. So many people on the edge of a giant life change consider the road they will take. Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Life is a journey, not a destination.” I’ve gotten myself both terrified and excited by the journey of my career that is about to begin. So, to keep you from stressing the constant climb, I suggest keeping the road on your wall. When you see a painting or a photo of a journey, let it remind you why you started it on the trip.

Coming and Going by Robert LeMar $985

Above, the cool colors of dusk covered headlights calms an onlooker. The road itself looks easy and tranquil. If you need light, easy travel to relax you when life gets hard, Coming and Going by Robert Lemar can give you a nice break from the day.

Black Mountain Road by Nicholas Bell $262

For some, the excitement of not knowing what’s around the bend is the best part. Nicholas Bell’s Black Mountain Road depicts just that. It’s fogged and a little beyond reach, but the grass can turn green just down the road. In a clean, stripped decor, this photograph gives an outlet or a little slice of life. Around the corner of the picture is something to always aspire to.

Virginia Bridge by Joel Degrand $1,500

Sometimes the brightest moment can feel like a huge leap from where you are now. This is where a college graduate, like me, sees her/himself. For me, this photograph can be inspiring. There isn’t a freefall coming, but a bridge to a dream job or giant career goal just a step away, and Virginia Bridge by Joel Degrand may solidify that if it hangs above a desk. Go on, browse Zatista for the picture that inspires you. Art is meant for contemplation. For some it’s the journey they are on; for others it’s an aspirational destination. Maybe it’s even an abstract painting you project your dreams onto, but let art be that inspiration so that you can keep on going, and going, and going.
